NAME

Eve Hart NDD, ATC, DAE

My work has two differing, though connected strands.

I have always worked from direct observation and made figurative paintings. I am interested in the traces left behind by people. I am interested in pathways and journeys. I am intrigued by the particularities of specific places at specific times, and in the ordering of chance appearance. I am, for the present, working on small scale paintings of familiar localities here in the Vale.

Recently much of my work has been of an abstract and sometimes symbolic nature. These often start with no end in view, though some themes have emerged. Many are concerned with recycling. They reuse materials and ideas. Thoughts around Growth and Exploration are examples of longstanding concerns. Some make indirect references to Christian iconography. Some seem to tell stories. One series is a direct response to music. Another is concerned with imaginary flight, and currently, with bird images.
These images emerge fresh and surprising (at least to me) and gather memories and meaning along the way.
