AN ARTIST'S

NAME

Richard O'Connell
Dip. AD (Hons), Cert of Fine Art (Oxon)

I am a tonal painter and work in a traditional style. My interest is in mythological subject matter and landscape views. My figurative work involves art work on Celtic and biblical themes. In my landscapes I work at speed and disfavour adding anything in the studio. I find the process of alternating working indoors and outdoors challenging and refreshing. I have a lifelong interest in life drawing which I think of as working indoors from nature. I carry a sketch book everywhere finding it cheaper and faster than a camera.
